Nuevos Amigos Cocina Mexicana is a clear winner when it comes to Mexican food in Cherokee County.
In a county with amazing Mexican food, including the legendary El Don Tacos Truck at the corner of Eagle Drive and Bells Ferry, this gem stands out among the rest. With its beautiful, outdoor rooftop and swanky restaurant decorated in a sophisticated Mexican theme, delicious drinks and delectable food, this is a favorite in Cherokee County.
The highlight dishes are the Tour of Mexico and the Alambres. The restaurant even grows fresh cilantro and peppers in their own garden out back!
Out of a ten-location taste test, this was the staff pick for number one.
Check it out, you will not be disappointed!
Staff pick for #1 Chinese Restaurant: Songs Garden
Our staff tried out ten different Chinese food restaurants throughout Cherokee County based on popularity. We ordered three dishes from each restaurant to rate and taste: Moo Shu Chicken, General Tso’s Chicken and Chicken and Brocolli
The vote was almost unanimous. Song's Garden located in Woodstock was a step above the rest. This place boasts itself as NYC Chinatown style and they deliver big on taste! Their prices are also on the lower end, making this restaurant a dinner win.
The Alpine Bakery is a dessert lovers paradise! The retail store, located off Sixes Road, has multiple huge displays filled with everything from cookies to giant cake slices.
Their signature dessert, and our staffs' favorite, is the Swiss Roll. We tried two varieties: classic chocolate and fruit and cream. Out of all the desserts from this bakery, the Swiss Roll is simply divine.
We hear they are also now offering pizza to-go as well as their divine desserts! We can't wait to try!
What is your favorite dessert from Alpine Bakery?
Ok torch toungues this one is for you we were asked to find the hottest spiciest food in the county and boy do we have one for you Joellas chicken on HWY 92 by the Lowe’s are the low key keepers of the flame they feature a fried chicken sandwhich called fire in the hole and it is every bit as spicy as one could imagine with such a monicur. We like to pride ourselves on our heat tolerance as we like chili peppers and Thai hot but this is a new level and a fun food challenge we would advise having this one with a milkshake. We warned you, eater beware.
Riverstone Corner Bistro located Riverstone pkwy in Canton, has the best shrimp and grits in the county. Bacon, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, scallions, garnished with lemon butter, served over stone ground smoked gouda grits. Dang these sure are some great grits. the menu is also loaded with sandwiches and other fun bistro food. The dining room is modern and inviting. This is great southern Americana faire.
Pizza Prince is open for business this self proclaimed prince of pizza has taken his dough twirling pizza making skills from the streets of Brooklyn and fired up his ovens in Canton GA, this no frills hole in the wall is taking the Cherokee County pizza scene by storm. Located in the Chevron at 111 Mountain Vista blvd in Canton the owner has plans to establish a larger location in the near future but if you are serious about your pizza and only the best will do go see the Pizza Prince.
I love Mexican food as much as the next guy, but sometimes I want a more exotic taste from farther south. Cylantros is that exotic flavor that squelches the curious pallet yearning for something new. The menu is rather large so give yourself a moment to take it all in before you step up to the counter to order. The fare is fresh and hardy, complimented by their signature chili and avocado sauces. The empanadas are handmade, delicious and very different from other regions empanadas, a welcome new culinary sensation. The menu is varying enough to have fun exploring and all of our staff who tried Cylantros unanimously agreed they were already planning a return visit. Pair the experience with one of their passion fruit aqua frescas you will be as close to Caracas as one can be in Cherokee County, GA.
