This week, Eye on Cherokee is proud to shine the spotlight on Paige Fowler Ogle, a familiar and compassionate presence to countless Cherokee County families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

As the person behind Woodstock Funeral Home, one of Cherokee County’s longstanding businesses, Paige carries a responsibility that requires compassion, strength and an incredible amount of grace. She has helped families navigate the heartbreaking process of saying goodbye to loved ones, offering comfort and dignity when people need it most.

But Paige’s commitment to Cherokee County extends far beyond her work at the funeral home.

She has also taken up the banner of supporting the Cherokee County 911 Foundation, helping bring attention and support to the men and women who answer our calls for help and serve our community every day. Supporting our local 911 employees is a cause that deserves recognition, and Paige has stepped forward to help make a difference.

Her commitment to the community doesn’t stop there. Through the funeral home and the foundation, Paige has also helped bring people together through several holiday celebrations and community gatherings throughout the year.

Behind the professional responsibilities of her position is someone who clearly understands the importance of community, kindness and showing up for others.

Cherokee County is fortunate to have people who don’t simply operate businesses here, but who invest their time, heart and energy into making the community a better place.

For the compassion she shows families, her dedication to our first responders, and her continued efforts to bring people together, Eye on Cherokee is honored to present this week’s Eye on Cherokee Spotlight Award to Paige Fowler Ogle.

Eye on Cherokee Weekly Spotlight: Tonya Baughman and Butterfly Whisper Bring Hope to Families Across Cherokee County

Behind every successful nonprofit is someone who saw a need and decided to do something about it. For Tonya Baughman, founder and CEO of Butterfly Whisper, that decision has changed the lives of countless families throughout Cherokee County.

Baughman founded Butterfly Whisper with a mission rooted in compassion: to help individuals and families overcome life’s toughest moments with dignity, encouragement, and practical support. Under her leadership, the nonprofit has grown into one of Cherokee County’s most respected community organizations, serving those experiencing financial hardship, food insecurity, homelessness, and other unexpected crises.

This week, Eye on Cherokee is proud to recognize Frank Reynolds with our Spotlight Award for demonstrating the kind of leadership that communities deserve from their elected officials.

Leadership is not measured by how someone responds when everything is going right, it is measured by how they respond when challenges arise. This week, Sheriff Reynolds showed that accountability and integrity remain core values of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office when employees accused of improperly using the agency’s license plate reader system were investigated and removed from their positions.

While the actions of a small number of individuals have generated headlines, it is important to remember that those actions do not reflect the thousands of hours of dedicated service provided by the hardworking men and women of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office. Every day, deputies patrol our neighborhoods, respond to emergencies, investigate crimes, and work tirelessly to keep Cherokee County one of the safest communities in Georgia.

Sheriff Reynolds has made it clear that no one is above the rules, and that public trust must be protected. It takes courage and character to address wrongdoing within your own organization. Rather than looking the other way, he demonstrated that accountability applies to everyone, regardless of rank or position.

Since taking office in 2021, Sheriff Reynolds has focused on professionalism, transparency, community engagement, and supporting the deputies who serve Cherokee County. A lifelong law enforcement professional, Reynolds spent decades serving the citizens of Cherokee County before being elected sheriff. Throughout his career, he has earned a reputation for being accessible to residents, supportive of his deputies, and committed to maintaining the highest standards within the department.

Under his leadership, Cherokee County has continued to enjoy relatively low crime rates compared to many surrounding metropolitan areas, while the Sheriff’s Office has expanded community outreach efforts and strengthened relationships with residents across the county.

No law enforcement agency is immune from mistakes made by individual employees. What matters is how leadership responds when those situations occur. This week’s actions demonstrated that Sheriff Reynolds is committed to ensuring that those entrusted with public authority are held accountable when they violate that trust.

At Eye on Cherokee, we believe the actions taken this week reflect leadership, not failure. They show a sheriff willing to make difficult decisions in order to protect the integrity of his office and the trust of the citizens he serves.

In Cherokee County, some familiar faces have become part of what makes our community special, and few bring smiles to children quite like Elsa of Woodstock.

What started as a birthday party entertainment business has grown into something much bigger. Through countless festivals, community gatherings, family events, and local celebrations, Elsa of Woodstock has become a beloved presence for children across Cherokee County.

Whether she’s hosting a rabbit petting zoo, bringing the magic of Disney’s Frozen to life, or performing live for families at local events, children light up when they see her arrive. Her dedication to showing up, engaging with young fans, and creating memorable experiences has not gone unnoticed.

Recently, the magic has expanded even further with the addition of a fellow character performer portraying Anna, creating an even more immersive experience for the children who eagerly gather to meet their favorite sisters.
